Let’s Call it an Election, Shall We?
The recount in Minnesota, for all its legal twists and turns, has been completed. At the end of the process, in which both campaigns were intimately involved, Al Franken (!) will be declared the winner. We (speaking as a quasi-/former Minnesotan who didn’t vote, so take that for what it’s worth) should move past the point of partisan bickering and send Franken to Washington.
If I were Coleman, I’d allow my advisers and lawyers to continue to fight the good fight for no more than a day before stepping aside and conceding the race. It’s called “statesmanship,” and at this point it’s sorely needed.
